I have a friend, good friend. Recently he gave me a backrub (but remained a perfect gentleman thought we were both tipsy). He's always friendly with me, but sort of keeps his distance (but he does that with everyone).

Now, today, I called him because I happened to have a ticket too much for the English Theatre and he's in my English class... asked whether he'd like to come with me, because I had to get rid of the ticket. He said if I'd asked him last week, he'd have said yes at once, but he had to work 24/7 and really couldn't.

What should I think of that? I can't read guys' minds. Help me.

Hmm. Myself I'd make of it that he's really busy and has to work 24/7.. you sure there was a hidden meaning?

This is a girl thing. Most of the time, when a guy says something, there is no hidden meaning.

If there is a hidden meaning, you can usually tell straight away (men are not very good liars) - and additionally you say the guy is nice, friendly with you etc., he has no reason to hide anything from you.

If he says he can't go ... it will be for the reason he said. Call it 'men's intuition'.

The reason you can't read men's minds is that there's nothing there to read most of the time. If they want something, they'll make it obvious - maybe not by outright saying something but if you know how to read body language most guys are an open book.

HTH!

Allow me to clarify this for you:

He really would've liked to go. BUT before you asked him, he was called in to work, leaving no time to do anything.

He's now probably cursing the world because a cute chick asked him to go to a show, and now he's stuck at work.

He's now probably cursing the fact that an idiot like me has his phone number. I feel really stupid for calling him.

Bleh girl no. I agree with the guys. Well if you really like him that much and if he's really stuck at work as he says you can probably get him a souvenir/program or something, and ask him out to dinner or whatever.

Now if I would only take my own advice ...

Oh yea, however if he's consistently busy every time you ask him out and never plans a raincheck (a raincheck's like "oh man I have to work this weekend, why don't we do dinner and a movie next weekend?") ... then something's up.

This is not the US... no "dating" here. Asking a guy to go somewhere is almost equivalent to saying "I love you".

I decided I better just forget about him. T'was a crazy idea to start with...

COUPLES!!! Yes! Of course there are!!! But, it's not like you can go to the movies or something with a guy just like that. Either, you're going steady, or you're not going at all! I've broken that "law" before, but usually rumours ensued...
