America is a continent though. People from Europe are called Europeans, right? People from Asia are called Asians, right? People from Africa are often called Africans...But people living in the Americas aren't Americans unless they live in the US. I agree that it dosen't make much sense, if you ask me. But hey, that's the way things are. I agree that there's a lot of crap on US tv. I do like a lot of the specialty channels, though. I like TLC, the History channel, Cartoon Network... A lot of the big networks carry shows I like too. I watch the Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, and the X-Files on Fox. I watch Drew Carey and Spin City on ABC... From my (Canadian) point of view, there is certainly a lot of good shows on the US Networks. I just wish that it wasn't so heavy on the censorship, etc. There is a new show on ABC called "Clerks" (based on the unbelievably funny movie "Clerks" by Kevin Smith). It's good, but in the movie, one of the characters (Jay) swears a ton. It's funny, but the thing is that it's a part of his character. Although it's the same person doing his voice on the TV show, it's just not the same. Heck, I don't think he even says 'ass'. In "Clerks" the movie, he must have had an F-word count of at least 50. -Firefox ------------------------------------------ Bumper Sticker: "My hockey mom can beat the hell out of your soccer mom." ------------------------------------------

true that, its not even a tenth as funny when they censor it...when its censored its like a bad japanese sitcom or somethin....very dull and boring...and without the random cussing, randall starts to drone...but also, you have to thank american tv for beavis and butthead. that was simply one of the best tv shows ever. best episode was naturally nose bleed.

In Denmark we say the continent called America is the whole "thing". This means North America + South America. And americans are people from USA. Other people we name by their country. Like Brazilians/Canadians/Mexicans/whatever. We don't use the terms North/South Americans. I guess only when talking about your war thing a long time ago, though it seems wrong. Remember the game North & South ??

censorship sucks big floppy donkey dick. but that's why we have the southpark movie--to cite only one example--and the internet. i have a buddy that had the matrix burned onto two cd's (a bit big for one) the day it came out in theatres. i say he did, though i never watched it from those cds (by which i mean he may be full of shit, but that would be the first time to my knowledge...) 'cause seriously, if you look you can find about everything somewhere on the net. and if you can't find it, someone is just about always willing to post it, if they aren't on a dial up all the time (son--of--a--bitch i hate living in podunk).

What war are you talking about Kolben? The problem I see with America is everyones efforts to please everyone else, thus censorship, and the big go of Political Correctness, there's a group called Dynamite Hack, and in one of their songs they say, "Nigger" but even on the CD it's edited out, because white people shouldn't say nigger, right? Another example, there was a commercial that had a popular song in the background (I can't remember the name) but in the song it says "Play that funky music White Boy" (You know what song i'm talking about) but censorship made them edit out "White Boy" how lame is that? Everyone is just trying to please everyone, fascists.------------------ Like a flash I'm out- -Proteun

And has anyone noticed how backward a lot of the censorship on US television is? For example, if someone says "asshole" the leave "ass" and bleep out "hole." I mean, we'd know what they were saying anyway, but that's just absurd. And so often with music the censoring gets so bad you can't even tell what the artist is saying.
