I know you said programmers. But come on, it's hard to top something like winamp or sonique - they are good at their job. So why not skin it? Seems the logical choice to me. With the freedom of skinning Sonique allows, along with the new "designer label" that is detnet (hehe), I think someone out there can come up with a tasty looking skin. So bleh.
