It had a different processor and version of Basic. You could start it in 64 mode to run all your favorite C64 progs. It also had a heavier power supply to support expansion products like REU's and the SuperCPU. It also had a Z80 processor for if you wanted to run CP/M, the predecessor of DOS.

Actually there are a couple of options, one involves a custom cable to connect your drive to your PC, or if you have 2 drives, you can make D64 disk images and transfer them to your PC. If you already have a 3.5" floppy drive for your C64, it's not too difficult to do. I'm on ICQ a lot, and I don't mind answering these questions for those that have them.
