Hey, peoples. A few of you know that I have a band. I don't know how many of you have heard my stuff, but what did you think?

You can find all my MP3s at: www.personguy.com/poornotation.html

Probably the best ones to download are Living Life Alive (Live), I SAID SO (The -dance- Mix), and Gruffle Mish.

/feels stupid for making this LOOK like a promo, but in reality just needs creative feedback

I just listened to Living Life Alive, and thought it was pretty good. At least, it sounded just as good as other Moby songs, IMO. I may try some others, but I definatly won't keep them in my collection... the sound quality is too low! Why not release the songs (or at least some of them) at 192kbs?

Yah, I said right on there that I used the Moby song maker thingy!

The reason that the sound quality is so low is because I only have 50MB to fit all my songs + a ton of other stuff.

And YAH!!! PowWeb RULES! They are SO cool! Whenever I ask how to set up something, they don't give me instructions... they just do it FOR ME FOR FREE!! The took care of all the hard annoying stuff. www.powweb.com

Living Life Alive sounds just like that Moby music maker thing in Flash that cr0 posted a month or so ago.

I played with that thing for about 1.5 hours

..Gruffle mish was okay, a bit long and repetitive for me, Living Life Alive I will keep, i said so dance mix was okay, and i liked howandwhy, 'specially the begining!

That "I said so' track is cute.
If you want an easy way to get lotsa samples
(assuming you have some SNES roms) get Snessor - It rips samples from ROMS.
Just a thought. I think there's a similar proggy for N64 carts as well.

"Living Life Alive" was kind of basic, but good... if you're looking to make dance music you're on the right track.

To be truly amazed with what you can do, try this experiment : stuff your brain with all the u-Ziq & Aphex Twin that you can. Then try to make something in that genre, and write a ton of hooks w/o samples... even if mostly want to use samples, it will improve your technique because those guys are amazing at *constructing* songs rather than just letting a single hook define the whole track.

Well, it worked for me... I can't say my stuff is amazing but it has definately improved

If you can find the Kid Spatula album "Full Sunken Breaks," listen to the first track "Dirtwah"... also track for on the Gak CD (or grab Gak 4 from Napster... might have to search on Aphex Twin) for two of the most amazing techno trax ever...

Cool, thanks for the tip! u-Ziq and Aphlex Twin are some of my all time favorite artist. Your right, they definately are composers at heart. Unfortunately they're both work of a geniouses, and I don't think I could ever match their musical talent. Also, I'm trying to be ME more than anything else, and I'd feel weird trying to mimic a particular song or style. AND most of my music is driven by rythm, not MUSIC.

But, again, your are right that my songs would be much better driven if they weren't built around specific samples. Anyway, in a song I'm working on (Bongs Away) it's MUCH more complex, and MUCH better built that anything I've done before, so watch for it...
