I love the games, but I can't stand to pay that much for what they sell. Esp the plastics, they're overpriced, you pay almost as much for them as you did the pewter stuff in it's day and while they're a little more refined, I'd rather have the pewter.

Plasitcs are overpriced for plasitc sprues, but they charge more for the pewter. A box of ten marines is about $25.00, that's about $2.50 a marine (before tax) A blister of two marines, pewter, is $6-7, $3-3.50 per marine. The plastics are also lighter. Playing Imperial Guard Steel Legion is a pain in the ass, because you have a couple plastic tanks, and at least 80 pewter guys. My friend who plays steel legion let me heft his case, and it was pretty massive. Plastics are better for most situations. Unfortunately, GW takes you up da poopah for prices, pewter or plastic. It's a cool game though. What army, if any, do you play veistran?

after the price hikes, you pay as very nearly as much for plastics now as you used to pay for pewter. As I remember it prices have gone up almost across the board at least 2-3 times since 3rd edition wh40k came out. The one thing that I can think of that is a much better value is the plastic jumppacks for marines.. the pewter ones made them top heavy as hell. Some of the new plastic vehicles are considerably better values but that goes without saying the old vehicles (the mold) are you know 10yrs old or so I believe.
I play Space Wolves.
edit: don't forget employee's pay a big like .10 an oz for pewter

-------------- Sir? May I recommend I load myself into the reverse-thrust tubes and you use my body as decoy-fodder? This will, of course leave me splattered across deep space and unable to complete today's laundry, for which I apologise in advance.
