Shoe shopping. Is there everything in this world more like torture? I've always hated it. I wear a woman size 9 which is the size most women around here wear, hence shoes my size are always sold out. And whenever I find a pair I really really like they are too damn expensive...

I just threw out about half the shoes I owned yesterday, and kept just the pairs I really like and wear. I guess I'll need a new pair of running shoes and a pair of boots... my good old cowboy boots are about to fall to pieces.

Oh and CK... proves, no alibis.

While we're on the subject of footwear, can someone explain high-heeled shoes to me?

The idea behind footwear is comfort, to protect your feet from the stones and miscellaneous sharp things, Is there any extra utility in putting a tall heel on a womans shoe? No.. It also adds considerable difficulty to balancing.. make a woman in stilettos run to catch a bus and you'll see ho ludicris these things are..

Long-term wearing high-heeled shoes is likely to damage your spinal alignment, and I'm sure I'm not the only person that winces at the sight of pictures like these

I think the point in them is to tense the womans calf muscle to make the leg look more shapely, but I can't remember the last time I stood gawping at the beauty of someone's lower leg (then again, I'm a breast man ) surely that isn't worth the discomfort and harmful effect of the skeleton.

most girls' reasons for high heels:
1. shaping of the calf muscles
2. looking taller (and thus, more skinny)
3. having a catwalk-like way of walking

all three are pretty stupid reasons.

However, it depends on where you wear high heels, how high they are, and how thick/stable the heel is. Ballroom dancing on flat shoes is close to impossible... Stilettos are not good for health, and they are really dangerous. A shoe with a moderately high heel (say, 1.5 to 2.5 inches) can on the contrary be more comfortable for walking and standing. Personally, I prefer shoes that are lightly high-heeled because walking in them feels better. The important thing is to change the heel-height often and not always wear the same shoes (and that's also a good excuse for owning a lot of shoes! )/

i am with Chrissy when i say i have a trillion pairs of shoes. I LOVE SHOES!!! and obviously can't get enough. I bought seven pairs this summer which is pretty ludacris("i've got hoes, in different area codes...") for a college student who has to return to her closet sized dormroom. and the fact that i own over 10 pairs of black shoes is not a problem cause you have to think about style not color when purchasing. ok now i sound like Cher in Clueless. and to follow up on Dustman's comments...high heels are amazing. they don't hurt my feet, i have no trouble balancing and frankly how many cute pairs of flat shoes can u find? not many. even have high heeled boots. ok i am finished. that is all i wanted to add =)
