Well I'm moving into my new place this weekend. :)
I was tired of driving 130 miles to and from work everyday on the 405 so I went looking for something a bit closer.  I couldn't find anything I wanted to buy and I'm worried about the drop in the real estate market that is due to hit any time soon, so I decided to rent for another year.  I thought that rental prices wouldn't be so bad considering I'm moving out of a really nice area behind the orange curtain and into LA  ...the armpit of the world.  Boy was I wrong!  Across the street from my office the 2bed 2bath apartments go for $6000/mo and up!!  Who would pay that?  Am I just a cheap bastard who thinks you should still have a budget for food every month?  I finally settled on a place in Marina Del Rey for $2544/mo which is still way over priced. (Even though there is a full size theater in the complex and free Internet).  But it's still highway robbery.  I'm basically going to be chucking 2500 bucks out the window every month just for taking up space.
The thing that really bugs me is that the highest rent was around USC and UCLA where they know students will be forced to look for apartments.  I say bring back rent control.  Or at least give some discounts for people trying to put themselves through college and better humanity as a whole.  Ah whom am I kidding, real estate barons are all greedy assholes who never went to school.   What's the most you would pay?

mortgage = house you own :)
you spend your life paying it off but you can sell your house and move into another one and simply carry it over. as long as you see yourself having a stable job as well as your beatch having one too you can move out whenever you want to (when you can sell it for loads) and never worry about it.

unless you don't have these things over there its pretty much the ONLY way you can get a decent house in this country.

i'm personally paying £234 per month but thats with sharing with 4 other guys so i cnt estimate what it'd be for myself either way i'm living with my parents till i can get enough moeny for my own house... ah well.

Boy am I boozed and tipsy and stuffs ...

Best rent I had was 250/mo ... bigass efficiency ... back in IL ... now in PA, I cough up 350 and a left lung for a tiny room in an apartment w/ 4ppl.  At least everything (water, power, local phone, cable, extra phone line, trash) is included.

Yeah, that's my ultimate plan but the real estate market is about ready to go down here.  I'm afraid I will loose money on the deal.  Plus I may have to move to San Francisco some time in the near future for about six months.  And did I mention there's a fucking movie theater in this appartment complex!

that party has to suck if youve resorted to cruising detnet and posting replies.  either that or detnet is the coolest thing since sex. which i suppose it would have to be if youve chosen that over tryin to get with girls.... or there could be preferance issues here. im just gonna leave that up in the air.
all kidding aside, im surprised some1 chose to frequent and post at an internet site from a party which involves (i hope) real people and social interacting. what does this say about people today? i dont know but it cant be good.

Ahem first off, I am a girl ... second, no, detnet is not the coolest thing since sex ... unless it is for some of you guys ... and I am cruisin on it b/c I was avoiding the drunk guys downstairs ... and the eventual cleanup :p

Actually, at BF's house ... party's downstairs ... I was upstairs taking a shower - white tops and spilled beer just don't go together ... ;)

What are you saying?  White tops are so much better with a bit of water/spilled beer on them.
