I have to admit that I don't much care for Kid Rock's image either, but a couple of his songs are mighty catchy. My question regarding Kid Rock is this:

Why, when nobody I've ever talked to had even *heard* of Kid Rock prior to "Bawiddaba", was he already a multimillionaire "rock/rap star"? Is this one of those record company "let's-create-a-false-history-for-our-artist(s)" so they can market him better?

(Ray, in reference to his band:) "Isn't it funny how Kid Rock produced our new album, and we didn't even have him rap once?"
(Me:) "Well, yeah, I guess it kinda is..."
(Ray:) "Y'know why we didn't?"
(Me:) "Nah, why...?"
(Ray, saying EXACTLY what I was thinking:) "We didn't think he was good enough."

It wasn't true, but like Ray said later, "it's a lot funnier than the truth."
