history class and math class are the only classes i do pay attention in. allow me to express in detail.
when we first settled here, there were 3 types of colonies, each with a different type of government, some were royalty friendly, some parliament friendly, and some neither. anyway, back in merry ol' england, parliament is having meetings, and naturally, because theyre over in america, the colonies cant participate! well this seems unfair, right? so they complain. england says they have virtual representation, so its like they are virtually there and things are being said in their interest. that should be enough, right? wrong. anyway, skip forward to circa 1770's after england's mercantalist system is shitting out our economy, after the navigation acts of 1660 and 1663 etc. we basically sent england the demand for equal representation, and that we were pissed off they were doing stuff without hearing our side. of course they said no and then you have the declaration of independence, revolutionary war, articles of confederation, constitution, etc.
my point is, that it was not in anyway about immigration, but instead about equal representation. why do you think our gov't has so damn many checks that make sure everyone is represented??
note: i apologize for the incoherentness of this rant, but its all true, go look in a history book, youll find most of this.
