i dunno but i'd sure love to see them try. Doom 3 actually sounds more appealing to me that Quake 4 at this point.

I'm suprised it took them this long that they need to re-release / update Doom.

Just put Doom on the Quake3 engine with new graphics and I'll be a happy camper.

Personally, I think it's just like Wolfenstien. The plot, charachters, and atmosphere could turn out to make one hell of a great game. However, ID will have to put some serious work into it to meet everyone's expectations of a single player game with the Doom name. And looking at ID's past lineup of games, I'm just not sure they're capable of doing it.

It's promising, but could backfire. Everything now is centered around the multiplayer aspect, and I don't know if they could pull off a good single player.

I guess we'll see though...

and if it wasn't wouldn't making another PC sequel after FINAL doom be as tasteless as another elm street movie after freddy's dead, or a friday the 13th after jason has already gone to hell, or maybe aven another Indiana Jones movie after the LAST crusade?

Actually, "Last Crusade" is kind of open to interpretation there. Doesn't necessarily refer to a final movie, but could equally be taken to mean the end of the search for the grail, finding a knight of the crusades guarding it, and such.
