Detnet went down at about 10AM PDT due to what appeared to be a routing loop... as LHD and incubus both pointed out, a tracert would show a couple routers playing ping-pong with the packets... and Telepacific and I played ping-pong with the blame until I finally got pissed and drove down to work to prove them wrong and discovered someone had set a nice heavy box on my T1.
