Ever notice that idiots always get the easy jobs and tha ADSL, and the Techies dont? I'm tired of it. My friend UH60SO said it best, "Everyone who has no idea what the fuck is going on gets all the high tech stuff first while all the techies have to wait"

Your thoughts?

Sadly, It's not *what* you know, its *who* you know.

Good point. But I don't think this goes for just jobs, but services as well. (like you sorta said with ADSL) I live in lexington, massachusetts, which is a fairly rich community, and the vast majority of the community would be willing to pay a premium for increased bandwidth services, especially cable modems. These have just become available, but the less techie towns in the surrounding area (arlington, belmont, etc.) have had them for more than a year. AAARGH!

DSL Line? Isn't that one of those redundant phrases? I could probably start a new thread on just that topic. Because doesn't DSL stand for Digital Subscriber Line?

Anyway, the techie people are often not in the upper income bracket because they lack the cash to get the good stuff and learned what they know by trying to improve what they have. Maybe it's fate or something.

Cause the 'idiots' know how to sweet talk it. How else do explain the fact that they even got their jobs in the first place. they whinge and bitch and we make do with overclocking. They keep screwing up their kit and bitch that it's faulty, meanwhile it's them and not the kit we supply. Ours always works cause we don't stick software on it indiscriminately.

No I think you guys are right. I was _supposed_ to get cable almost 2 years ago and counting. Last I heard it would be ready in 2001. Yet almost every surrounding town already has it. Even my relatives are getting it, and I have to set up their computers, it's like a smack in the face. Seems strange since our town has a higher avg. income than most of the ones where cable is already installed.

Such is life =[

I was wrong. There, now no one can accuse me of being unable to admit when I am wrong.

To confirm, just go to http://www.dsl.com and do a little reading, it will tell you most of what you may want to know about Digital Subscriber Lines, etc.
