Thank you all for your help. The compatability mode thing doesn't work with all my games, that is because some of the games just do not like the NT file system. And I agree the ones that the compatability mode work for seem to run a little sluggish. I think I got it figured out...somewhat...now. THank you all again.

Quote (RadioActive @ 28 June 2002,22:41) | XP's comatibility mode is still not sufficient half the time. i has a few games not run properly even in compatibility mode, and those that do, i feel a bit of a performace loss. as for dual boot, as long as the drive with windows 98 is set as a slave you can use dualboot feature that comes standard with windows XP. that would envolve a little bit of reading and editing file boot.ini in your root directory. there are other ways, you can for example after instalationg of XP boot from the cd again and go to recovery console. i am sure it's possible in recovery console to do something like "repair boor sequence" or something of that sort and it will check for operating systems you are running and automatically create a proper boot.ini for you. that is the easiest way in my opinio, but there are way too many third party programs that would do dual boot for you. |
dayum ... didn't think about that .. good show RA .. now you got me wondering... have you tried it that way... recovery console and all?

yeah. i installed linux before and the didn't want it. so i formatted the drive without thinking and couln't start lilo anymore. i had to resort to recovery console. from there i did repare MBR (to get rid of lilo and put windows boot instead) and then had to use the other thing to make new boot.ini so that i can multiboot between my XP and 2000 Advanced Server.

Bah...
Win98 startup disk.
a:\fdisk /mbr
Faster than recovery console.
