All this year they've been fucking over my jiu jitsu club (and all the others) with money crap.

It all starts with them jacking up the membership price by £10 thus making more money for the "fashionable clubs" i.e football and rugby etc. They said this was to provide more money for each club as more moeny goes into the budgets. How much bollox is this when ulitimately the members still have to pay for any events that occour for the clubs. The initial fee just puts off the poorer students so there's no one left to pay in the end anyways.

Then they bring up the shit about introducing a 15 member minimum. Which they have the gaul to complain about our club not meeting for this year despite being with the uni for some 7 years solid. We get a stunt in our membership and we're suddenly being threatened with closure, that's loyalty for you.

Right lets get a few things straight. we are not a club that gets more members just to satisfy their god danm subsidies from the clubs funds. Martial arts are for the few people who have the comitment for it. We are not going to sacrifice quality of teaching for their stisfaction.

We teach 8pm to 10pm which for most students is quite late and they still have a go at me for not pulling in more members claiming there are loads of clubs "queing up" for the hall we train in . Consequnetly we have a lot of non university members which causes problems with contact for collecting photo id and money for (the club introduced phto id for the first time this year and also neglected to mention the need for cheque guarantee number AND expiry date for said card on all cheques or even who the cheques supposed to be made payable to on any membership forms. this caused shedloads of me trying to get hold of members and constant revists to the SU office for these reasons only to be given another reason why they wont take our money) almost all of the cheques are on the verge of being out of date.

They have said "but kickboxing *spit* has plenty of members" well of course they do kickboxing is a fucking sport not a martial art and is more fashinable. All martial arts clubs have said they have problems with meeting the minimum members quota.

I worked my ass off on freshers week getting shitloads of members in only for all of them to be turned away by the high money costs. (the SU freely admitted that this was implemented to create competition between clubs the fucking cunts! )

I Admit i had problems getting my payment in but next time i guess i should reschedule my grandmas death and the banks decision to almost screw up all my loan next time.

From the look of the budget for next year it looks like they are thnking of jacking up the price another £10. i am seriously considering to tell them to go fuck themselves in no uncertain terms at the AGM next year in front of all the other clubs just to get something done about this as they make no claims to hide that the charges are to give them more money.

Oh did i forget to mention that the uni overbookd the student accomodation by about 500 people so no one was interested in any clubs when they had more important things to worry about like having somewhere to sleep FFS!

Our university is beyond fucked up and i know of several clubs and societies that have gone under because of the changes.

Just needed somewhere to put this down where i can remind myself why i shouldnt spare any goddamn mercy for the incompetant pricks in charge.

I usually advise to just suck it up and deal with problems like this but its gotten beyond a joke. Everyone prefers to deal with monetary matters outsiode of the SU cos of all the red tape involved in claiming funds for the clubs.

Anyone know of a good weapons dealer i feel like going on a killing spree.

food for thought : the students who run the Student Union will be managers in a few years.

for now, i suggest you have more of a group mentality, and remember - there's no I in team!

But, damnit there's a ME.  Could you convince your teacher to start a dojo?  Move off school funding?  Would they allow it?

I need to find some good dojos.  I want to learn Hoshinryu or Hshing-I for right now.  I might have to settle for Tai-Chi as the only Hshing-I teacher I know of is in Atlanta.  I would do Hoshin, but the only Dojo I know about is 2-3 hours from here, and I can't drive, or else I'd go.  Suprisingly there's alot of esoteric martial art teachers around Ohio.

Oh yeah, remind me, what uni you go to?  I want to avoid it.

It only ever pisses it down in the Autumn/Winter/Early spring, the rest of the time it is an actually very nice climate.

Oh and with the whole "teamwork" thing. The SU'd idea of this is "This is how its going to work if you dont like it feel free to complain so we can just ignore your opinion". I suspect a higher managirial influence is at work as in case most people havent realise yet universities dont give a shit unless you've got money to give them :)

Why i oughta!
