You all know what I mean… the fucking groups that are dominating the radio waves. I’m sick and tired of all the Creed, Default, Nickelback, Staind, whatever, they all suck. They all sound the same, with their whiny lead singers and inaudible lyrics. I drive for a living and am cursed with only and AM/FM radio. The other day, “How You Remind Me” by Nickelback was on 5 stations at one time. I was ready to go postal, am I the only one that is sick of these guys?  angry.gif

Not trying to defer from the topic, but did you ever consider XM Radio??  Sounds like it would benifit you, and I bet they make a wireless hookup, like you can tune in on a certain radio frequency...

nah, you have to buy a whole new reciever for xm, he'd be better off getting a new reciever with a cd player, if he's going to go that route.

I share your hatred for those "bands"
they are all rip offs of each other trying to make a dime with the same sound.  i cant stand music anymore.  its all so sissified and it sucks.
the music is replayed over and over its like beating my head in with a tack hammer.

/me prefers SOAD and similar bands(fred durst can go fuck himself)

besides, most of those bands were spawned of the infernal pop influx during the '90s that still claims a stake to the ears of most 13-16 y/o's now

thats why you turn to classics and new stuff. I almost exclusively listen to funk, good independent rock bands (Jimmy's Chicken Shack!;), classical, and some new electronic music that is made locally or on mp3.com

dave brubreck's 'take five' is a decent chill-out song(no vocals)

Now I understand why "old" people aren't as interested in music like they used to be.

I've heard new bands covering songs that I heard some years ago.

Pop really does eat itself!

On the net you can try < KCRW
> which has streaming new music with no commercials and artist interviews, live sets.

IMHO, one of the best radio stations on Earth.

pop comes from teh same grassfuckers that give us so many shitty fucking movies :(

Fuck you.  Creed has talent, and more importantly, their songs actually have meaning.  The music of creed is one of the driving forces behind me put my life back together....  (similar to the way Nirvana kept me from opening a vein during my highschool years.)

The greatest bands ever, as seen by BlackFlag:
1. Queen
2. Ruin
3. Nirvana
4. Creed
5. King's X
6. Pearl Jam

Well, props to you for being able to understand what he's saying half the time.

If these bands just rip off each other all the time, they should fight to the death!

Creed: You and me, by the flagpole, after school!

Nickelback: Oh, your'e on, god-boy!

Staind: I got winner, motherfuckers!  I got some serious angst to work out!  ROAR! *goes into a corner and cries*

Default: Who are we?  I've never heard of Default, have you?

Bozeman, rofl.

I agree, so many bands now sounds so much the same.  For ever Tool there seems to be 30 Staind's.

Default is actually pretty good, I just bought the album the other day and there is alot of good stuff on there.  But I do agree that they basically all do sound the same.

One band that I cant wait for is 30 Seconds to Mars, they have a album comin out sometime this summer.

Me too, I think it's a decent album.  While they do mostly sound the same, it makes it easier for those of us who try to pretend that we play the guitar to learn new songs.   :p

I really want to learn how to play quitar my mom I has a good acoustic guitar but yea just have yet to just sit down and try to learn.  Ok that was off topic....

Just buy a chord book and start pounding away...that's what I did.  I'm completely self-taught.  However, I'm planning on starting lessons once I get settled into a carreer (hopefully within the next 4 months).

Do you have any past experience w/musical instruments?  I used to play the sax, and the finger dexterity really helped.

saxamaphone...saxamaphone... </homer>

Nope no past experience.

here in san diego theres a radiostation that claims to be 'independent' (92.1 FM).

so i call 'em up one day and ask "hi. if you claim to be independent, then why do you havea  corporate-whore play list?"
**click**
such bastards.

the screwed up thing about radio is that as it's become more consolidated there are now like 3-4 companies that control the majority of the radio stations operating in the states. They all also behave almost exactly like movie studios, and are unwilling to move away from "what works." Which is why we have so many goddamned "top 40" stations.

It's sucks fricken balls, I used to live in St. Louis and we had a great "rock" station that played cool shit, local artists and shit. About a month and a half before I moved to Lawrence literally overnight they switched from 104.1 extreme radio to 104.1  The Mall - flashbacks of the 80's and 90's. Know I'd known it was coming because I'd read about it in the paper, but on air it was not mentioned at all, I literally listened to the switch. One station break out goes extreme come back from commercials to the mall, it was a sad, sad day.

I see a good example of how most people cant handle somewhat creative music in Pinkerton.  The album was flop and alot of people said it sucked, but I've listend to some of the songs and they are all very good songs.  I think people just didnt like it because it was not the same style of rock/pop music that Weezer was.
