In a nutshell,

Upgraded to Win2K, and hated it.
Upgraded to XP, like it.

However, all of Office won't run.
I can't uninstall 1.5 Gigs even using the Office disk.

I can't run the XP Office disk either as an upgrade or a separate install behind the partition.

At this point, my meager experience tells me to edit Office out of the registry and defrag and run a fresh install of Office XP.

Mr Wiley is prolly the smartest MS guy I know... but he's sortof busy...

If you have any time, which I doubt,
would you accept 100$/hour?

Meanwhile, maybe I'll try Eudora; gotta get the email back!

To run Outlook, it asks for disk 2.
To remove anything in Office, it asks for disk 2.

Then it says the required file(s) are not on disk 2.

Basically the same thing when I try to upgrade/install Office XP.

I'm cautiously happy...
I think it's back, the email that is.
I got a tech here for 3.5 hours and he
put the computer thru its paces!

He loaded my bootleg xp office
onto E drive and ran it from there.
Turns out the bootleg had the right files but
in the wrong folders.

Same guy's Office Premium?  Same story.
But his Office 2000 worked!

At least he got rid of that 1.5 dead Gigs.

I have a *lot* of emails to tend to, except one had a virus
and he suggested I run a full scan first; good idea.

I was watching it, and I saw it linger on a very long file from Liquid Metal; guess what!

That would be the copy of office xp he sent a few days ago!
Three people couldn't find it on the puter; none of us know ICQ that well.
That was a 12-hour download on DSL.
No wonder the HD was full.

Oh gawd, dare I run it?
Maybe in a couple days.

Thankyou Mr Wiley; from what you say, I think we can wait till after your umm, "fireworks" are finished!  Thankyou again!
Thank all youse guys!

Hmm, maybe it's time for a gratuitous girlie picture!
