I hate public displays of affection. If you're one of those people, who when with your significant other, feel the absolute need to show the entire world that you're in madly in love - and to prove it exchange copious amounts of saliva - do everybody a favour and stop. Show some fricking restraint and get a room.

Ok. That's all.
(Yes I'm a bitter single bastard).

I don't see a problem with it. Where's your cut off limit though. No kissing @ all? No hugging? Or are you just talking about totally mugging out and shit?

true that, i hate seeing people make out in the hallways of my school, it makes me disgusted, because most of the people in my school are butt-ugly, and sad because i dont have some hot chick to show off

If you had a hot girl, you would kiss her in public. You know you would.

Certain PDA's are ok but completely making out shouldn't be done in public. Occasional hugging and quick kisses are fine but not anything more.

gotta agree with shadowknight on that one.

i hate pda's. it's like saying, "hey, look at me, i actually got a date, and look, i can use my tongue, and look...." UCK!!

occasionally holding hands or hugging, or a quick kiss are fine, anything more should be reserved to private rooms or cars with very darkly tinted windows.

d00d I agree...
I think people who do PDAs need to find a life. I have a friend who constantly does it. It's almost as if she has no regard for other people....
I think a polite kiss on the lips is fine in public but when you start gropping each other in the middle of the mall on a friday and hold up walking traffic...Im sorry but thats where I draw the line.

Rant rant rant

and even when I am with someone..I dont do it..I say respect the neighborhood...no one wants to see you go at it with yer man/woman

heh, we had a fire drill the other day, and this guy got into his car with his girlfriend (no tinted windows on car), and i didnt see what they were doing, but all of a suddon, someone honked the horn....it was rather humorous

Back in the day (remember, im old) i was VERY guilty of this. I had a gf when i was in HS and we would be all over each other every chance we got. I look back on this now and wonder wtf i was thinking. (god i was a rotten one before i became a geek)

The real funny thing is when i see it now the frist thing i think is "get a room!"

personally, i prefer the comfort of my waterbed. why go play hide the salami in the bushes and get poison ivy (this actually happened to a kid in my english class) when i can enjoy the a/c and turn on some miles davis. samething applies for the mall or the hallway. there's a time and a place for (nearly) everything.

It's all fair and well telling people to get a room, but how many of the majority of the population of the world that do it will listen to anyone tell them to do otherwise?

And dont anyone here try and say they've never everdone it themselves. We all know its a lie. Unless of course you've never had a girlfriend/boyfriend in your entire lives.

Oh, and here's my tuppence worth of fuel to the fire;

If you're out with your bf/gf and you feel the want/need for a quick burst of passion then where exactly are you gonna go that isn't public? Also falling into this one, what about when you're out visiting some new place on a day out? you dont know anyone there, so theres nowhere private to go is there..

C'mon, get yer brains into gear people, the vast majority of people that do PDA's are teens or people in their early 20's, and quite probably living with their parents or living in dormitories with other people (Who'd want 10-20 other people seeing what you get up to in the privacy of yours and their homes?) or their landlord doesnt allow overnight visitors or whatever. So where else is anything gonna take place?

;
Thats about all from me for now. Til I find some people have used their brains and put up some reasonable rants...

"reasonable rant..." isn't that an oxymoron?

It totally is

I don't think I agree with you. I think there is a level of respect that one has to have for others. When you go out in public you are expected to go with the social norm- I mean you don't walk around nekkid in public do you? And why is that? Well my guess it is because it would embarass you but besides that no one would tolerate it. We sit and tolerate this kind of behaviour even though the majority of people don't actually like it. I wonder why that is.

Agreed, there is a level of respect, but I mean, if you're out in the street and you see someone doing something you dont like them doing, what do you do? say if someones selling a magazine that you dont like, you dont go and tell him/her/it to stop selling it do you?

The plain and simple answer is no.

Basically, let people get on with whatever they are doing, if you dont like it, tough, I'm sure there are a shit load of people out there that dont like stuff that you do, but they dont give a crap coz it aint their choice, they dont have to do it, they can just walk away and not be a part of it.

Anyone here that has a problem with something going on that they dont like, I suggest you just walk away and dont get involved. Unless some guy is beating up some girl, in which case, kick his ass, call the cops, and then leave.

if thats the way the world worked, i could run around naked in downtown DC and not get arrested....but wait, i would get arrested....its common courtesy, a magazine sits on a shelf and dos nothing, its fairly easy to ignore, people squirming all over each otehr and making noise is not nearly as easy to ignore, theres a very big difference.
Posted by Chrissy on Jun. 17 2000,19:44
My point exactly Sithiee....
Im not about taking people's rights away- Im just for the respect of others...
People don't think before they act I think if they did things would be different.
