So there's this Wolfram guy who published his own book, who's theory is that the whole universe can be condensed to a simple code.

I like that idea.  He's quite controversial, some scientists fart fire when they hear his name.  What is the consensus on the campuses out there?

This evolves into this;

"no spam"
"wolfram and the new science"

????

I do have problems forcing the update sometimes,
otherwise, I'm just having fun posting pix on the front
page.  Makes it come alive, yes?

Are you saying you can predict the future with this code tho??? Be carefull.

universe is just one big fractal thats how you can see it as infinite.

the guy is stating the obvious.

"duh the universe has a pattern"

well no shit sherlock solve quantum theory and chaos prediction and THEN we'll buy you a beer

It's actually annoying as hell, esp. if you don't coe to the site every day (or even more than once a day) and scroll through the swaths of drivle to find that there really isn't a meaningful news topic.

read the "Well of Souls" series by Jack L. Chalker.

You will learn that the universe as we know it is held together by equations running on a very large computer.

I think we need to go there, reset the stupdity varable a lot lower and reboot the system.

Piers Anthony wrote a series of books that got pretty heavily into fractals as well, the Mode series.  It was ok, but got a little too heavy, went far into fractals and the Mandelbrot set, etc...

TaxMan, if you'd like to write some news,
maybe I could put it up for ya!
Or another Admin!

Perhaps I'm operating under an illusion, I always say to post what you want to read about;
from this thread I've found a couple new books to read right off the bat...

I think I stepped on your toes not long ago, and I didn't intend to affront you, nor am I now.

Wait... If a computer's running all the calculations for physics and you reboot... Oh, shi-
