i just had an idea: start a detonate.net book club. recomended reading for the true l33t hax0r. please limit you selections to published books otherwise we'll just get 65536 links to some geoshities page w/ a copy of the hackers manifesto on it....

so the inagural detnet book club selection is:
snow crash
by neal stephenson

read it and love it

YES!!! I've found Neal stephenson readers! I LOVE HIM! HE KICKS! I've read Snow Crash many a time, and am reading cryptonimicon for the god knowth time. Hehe hiro protaganist was a funny name. Those books Rox0red!

If you want to be in the det.net l33t hax0rs book club you have to read Neil Stephenson, and the rainbow books.

Haven't read his latest, but I've read every other book he's written (that I know of)
The Big U, Zodiac, Snow Crash, Diamond Age. HIGHLY recommended =P

Who knows where I'd be today if mqa hadn't lent me his copy of Snow Crash years ago?

ahh nostalgia.

ok, I just have to say it:

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. Necessary reading for the serious hacker... sort of.

no not for serious hackers, for funny det.net type hackers

The last book I read that I really enjoyed was the House of Spirits, which I'm sure only a few of you would enjoy. It's based on south american politics, and I really enjoyed the writing style.

I really should read more; it's a shame that work and hobbies take up so much of my time.

Books? What are those?

Seriously though, I haven't had time to read a book in ages .. stupid work *grumble*

The last good book I can remember reading is Robert Heinlein's Have Spacecuit Will Travel. That was a good one if I remember correctly.

Heinlein's good. I've read his Stranger in a Strange Land (Damn I wanna be like mike) and Starship Troopers. I'm going to read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
