I bring you the knowledge I have learned from various tech shit shoved in my head about passwords and security.
Make it at least 8 characters long, the longer the better.
Use number, special characters and capital letters (I don't know if the board's passwords are case sensitive)
Don't use words found in the dictonary.
Example of bad password: kbreakrulez
good example:  14M@!4m3r  (bad bad way of typing I am a lamer)

that is my knowledge of making pw harder to crack, it may not stop them, but it'll slow them down.  and don't just leave it written down where anyone can see it.   Dork.

True dat!

It is my firm belief that l33t speak originated from technical gurus ways of using strong passwords...

A few good methods I use is either combing letters and numbers to form words... i.e.
3.2 Beer
3.2b33r!
or taking the first letter of each word of a sentence and then adding a known date behind it..  i.e.

The thought of how leet speak originated has bounced in my head when making new passwords for things.  it would be kind of nifty to find the origins of it.  But also stupid.
Hmmm...

there are quite a few free progs out there that produce "random" charachters. most of mine are 12+ charachters long and they are complete giberish but i use them often enough for my hands to remember how to type them. i couldnt recite them off out loud but put a keyboard in front of me and my hands just know how to do it. get a bigass password thats giberish and practice typing it lots. soon you wont need a piece of paper at all to keep them on and if you cant even remember them but your hands can thats about as secure as you can get really.

At work we have password disks, because the server passwords are strings of non-alphanumeric chars and impossible to remember.
