I have never not wanted to be an Editor more than now.
Being the owner Bites right now.
This is painful.

Guess what?
I'm not going anywhere.

I hope some of you are left in the am.
grrr.

Unless you give this up, I won't be.

I don't know who else won't be, but there are going to be more.

You think it's painful for you?

You're not watching the hangout you've shared with your friends for two years disappear into oblivion because someone else doesn't understand the community and the camaraderie.

Damnit I'm pissed. You haven't just driven me to leave, you made me cry.

Congratulations, editor. In 2 years on Detnet and even more than that on #detnet, you're the first person here who's actually made me cry about something.

Can't take what ain't there.

I'm looking for reason here.

I've no plans on leaving.. I'm sure that'll be an enormous consolation to you. :D

I know you're tired of the bickering between various parties here and it's entirely understandable that you should wish to delete posts in order to reduce the temperature. Unfortunately if you do this those parties that have grievances with each other will very likely just reiterate their attack and nothing will ever be truly settled. Doing so continuously will force parties who are aggrievated with each other to fight outside the forums over IM or what have you. This wouldn't be likely to improve the overall atmosphere either. Aggressive moderation (eg deleting posts) is likely a mismatch for the social nature of this board (such tactics may be better suited to factual oriented boards).

The solution sounds simple in theory but may be difficult to implement in theory. The old maxim "If someone is doing something to annoy you, just ignore them and they'll get bored and stop doing it"..

DSL.. Catknight attacks you for moderative aggression then don't delete the thread (he'd just create another one). Just ignore him.

Catknight. Whatever you think DSL's doing, is it really too much to ask to let it drop?

Ed.. If you get complaints about your choice of mods, but they don't seem out of line to you.. Ignoring the complaint may be the best course of action..

Be our friend, not our babysitter.
No reason to delete the posts, just ride the ebb and flow.

We're going to be OK, but we gotta be us. Sometimes that means a little mud slinging. ;)

Can't undelete what's already gone, but we can stop the parenting and just have fun, right?

I think it would be best if I left for the night.

God Bless Detnet and all those who tarry here.

Holy shit... Did someone just listen to me?  wow.gif

That has to be the first time this year.

I'll leave DSL alone if he either reinstates my mod or relinquishes his own.

I reliquinished my authority before I even saw your post.  I overdid it a bit.  Now I can't post under my normal account =P

You win, CK.

That's not what Askheeves said.

He IM'd me and told me to lay off of you cause he was on the phone with you and you were crying.

Don't give yourself too much credit jim.

I never cried because of you, no matter how you choose to remember it.

I had bigger things on my mind back then than what you said about me. Things like lupus and the prognosis that I wasn't going to live six more months.

*face goes ashen*

I'm so sorry, kuru.  My aunt has lupus, and I know how hard it can be.  I hope you feel better.
Posted by kuru on Jun. 21 2002,15:08
Most of the time I'm alright.

What I actually have is an auto-immune condition that's similar to lupus (which is why they thought I had lupus) in the symptoms that it creates.

My immune system has gone a little crazy and thinks that my skin and my lungs are its biggest enemy. It's controllable with meds, but not exactly a pleasant thing, because some things can trigger it even with the meds.

Life expectancy is pretty normal, unless I don't take my meds, in which case it can eat my lungs to oblivion and I end up going to the emergency room. Day to day the worst part of it is that I'm tired all the damn time.

Don't be sorry for me dude, I'm still here. Many other people are far worse off.

My mother has lupus, it sucks.  It's led to pretty bad arthritis as well.  F-ing lupus.
