This, like most Hanks movies, was excellent. For the first time in a great long while, however, he was cast as a semi-evil figure: gunning people down and all of that...he was still the good guy in the movie, though.

Definitely worth the cash to see this in the theatre...

saving private ryan: tom hanks plays as tom hanks
the green mile: tom hanks plays as tom hanks
apollo 13: tom hanks plays as tom hanks
forest gump: tom hanks plays a stupid tom hanks

he has no skill as an actor in my opinion

Well, then. Thanks for letting us know -- it's too bad the rest of America seems to think otherwise, because he wins the awards regardless. So anyhow, who's your favorite actor?

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin doesn't count.

Six dollars? I can't see a movie around here for less than $8.50. (well first-run studio movies anyway). That's why I hardly ever go. Very rarely do I feel like I get my money's worth.

you do realise most of the big ceremonies aren't voted for by the public.

i mean you really think forest gump deserved an oscar over pulp fiction? the films that get voted for those awards are the ones that suck hollywoods big fat dick.

he makes sentimental crap films.

my favourite actor? ed norton's good but i don't have a favourite. i'm not dumb enough to think that theres one actor that's better than everyone else. i just know the ones that are crap and are only famous because they konw how to get into films where things like directing scripting and sfx do the work and they just have their name printed on it.

saving provate ryan had all that speilberg crap and shock tactics to make it famous

forest gump used a cliche "aww isnt it cute how stupid people live their cliched lives" must have happy ending!

the green mile had that big black dude who knows how to act and a director and writer that knew what they were doing

and that film that had just tom hanks in it was, that marooned thing hell i cant even remember what its called cos it was so crap.

... and you saw all of them.
Interesting.

I will happily watch Tom be Tom for a few more movies.

Heh

He is a "manly man"

Heh.

I agree that he plays himself too much/too often.
But what a pleasure.

This, though, is a stretch...

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE USHERS WHO PICK UP AFTER YA FUCKING SLOBS!! PICK UP YOUR GOD DAMN POPCORN AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T SNEAK IN SUNFLOWER SEEDS!! I MEAN, GOOD FUCKING GOD; SUN FLOWER SEEDS! YOU SPIT THEM ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE AND THEN LEAVE 'EM! YOU FUCKING IDIOTS MAKE ME SICK, THAT'S WHY I GET INTO MOVIES FREE, YA FUCKS. AND ANOTHER THING... HANG ON... had my finger on 'shift' for some reason, anyways, the best movies in theatres right now are Road To Perdition, Lilo & Stitch, and Minority Report. Shut up, Reign of Fire, Halloween Resurrection, and Eight Legged Freaks are good ACTION movies, but suck ass at plot. For more reviews by your fucking ushers go to www.abilitysys.com/douglas and click - The Ushers!... wait, did I just advertise for a totally lame site? I think I did.

BTW: Lilo & Stitch I just realized wasn't that good at plot, but I'm going to leave it in there because I love animals and am a sucker for blue koalas.

was a pretty good movie, but the ending was WAY too predictable.

The marooned thing was Cast Away ... it was so-so.

As for Tom Hanks playing Tom Hanks - that's small potatoes.  At least the movies he's in were somewhere in the neighborhood of okay-good.  Nobody drives me into a murderous rage more than Adam Sandler ...

Say, any of you planning on watching Triple X w/ that vin diesel dude?  He scares me :p

Yes, they aren't generally voted on by the public -- they're voted on by the Hollywood professionals who make the movies, and have experience in the movie industry. I'm sure you're a real movie buff, but I doubt you know anything about the real world of movie making or acting -- if you did, you'd be in the movie industry.

"He makes sentimental crap films"?!?! Ah, I see now. You're one of those, "OMG IT NEEDZ TO BLOW UP!!" people.

I just lost my will to argue the point. That's it from me...

Vin Deisel rip you a new one? Ha! Anyone have the Iron Giant on DVD? The featurette makes him look like crap!
