One Hard-drive
98S.E FAT32
Win2k Professional NT5

Is it possible to do this. I know its relatively easy to dual boot both in FAT32 but if i want 2k on an NT format will i need anothe HDD or is there a way of combining the two.

Bear in mind i have only ever used FDISK to partition a drive. I have used Partition Magic once to split my drive "in two" but i would like to know the proper way to do this if there is one.

Yes you can do it on the same HDD.  (I have) but bear in mind a couple of quid pro quos.

First, if you want to be able to run the same proggys in both, you'll have to install them twice.  Secondly, the 98 FAT32 partition won't be able to read any files on the NTFS partition.  The easiest way also involves installing 98SE on the first partition (I don't know if you care or not).

Here's what you do.

1.) Partition the drive w/both partitions FAT32.
2.) Install 98SE on the first partition
3.) After 98 is ready, slip in the 2K disc (in 98) and select the "fresh install" option, and install it on the second partition.
4.) Use the built-in filesystem modification tool for Win 2K
by typing "convert d: /fs:ntfs" at the command prompt.  The system will reboot and do the conversion during the reboot.
5.) The Win 2K boot loader will display allowing you to select Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Microsoft Windows
You can select the default startup system (ask if you don't know how)
6.) Install your software on each OS

Good enough?

Will the same work for a winXP / win2k dual boot? (winxp fat32 / win2k ntfs ) might sound ignorant to set them both up seeing as they have so much in common.. but it's been a dream of mine for half of my life.

I really don't know...I have very little experience with XP...I've been avoiding it...so far successfully.

why would you run xp on fat32? it supports NTFS so you can keep it NTFS.  unless you're talking about home edition.

anyways it should work. just install 2k second, then this way you can install it (xp will attempt to install itself because 2k is older)
