I heard Canada was a pretty nice country. That it gets quite cold but that it has quite good snow conditions for skiing (abundant, powdery snow and all that. well, every other country where it snows seem to have good snow conditions for skiing except australia *sigh*). The Anne of Green Gables mini-series was set there (well, Prince Edward Island) and it looked gorgeous!

Its on my TO VISIT list, right after the UK, inland Australia and Asia (I'd list new zealand too, but it looks like we'd be going there for a week in a couple of months for skiing... WEEEEEEEEEEEEE*trip**skid**thud**groan*)

Myself, I love Canada.

I know more cool, calm, intelligent Canadian people than I do from anywhere else in the world.

And on a bonus note, I know way too many hot girls that live in Canada too.. My only bitch is that it's so far away from me so I cant go visit any of the girls I know

OK, here's the thing, Canada isn't all cold and snowy all the time!!! I live in a city more south than quite a bit of US. It snows for like 2 maybe 3 months here. And, yes Quebec does smell bad, but we try to ignore them.

Now I am not as "extreme" as some Canadians *cough, Animal*, but I can't stand ignorance. I wouldn't assume that all Americans carry a gat and will mug you at the first chance you get, so don't give into the stereotypes of Canadians.

We are just like the US, but have a Prime Minister and are not the leading military power in the world.

i didnt say i hated canada or something.. i dont have any hard proof to back a hatred or anything. i just have a strange dislike for canada.. i mean sure i've had bad experiences with canadians who hasn't, but i cant judge a country by a few residents.. and im sure that there's canadians who have had bad expeiences with americians.. i had the pleasure to talk to a canadian national once.. *shudder* but anyway.. i was just curious if i was the only one.. i didnt really mean and hardcore offense by it i mean i think AnimalPrime was just buying into the let's hate austin theme going around... so animalprime im sorry if i offended you with my post, but i tried to phrase it as unbiased as possible while still voicing my opinion.. *shrug*

I ***LOVE*** that molson ice commercial thanks to adcritic i got to see it they never really play it in the US.. The only stereotype at least as an americian have about canadians is that the east coast canadians pronouces their u's a little different and West coasts canadians are much cooler.

Naw, Canada is a steaming cesspool. Man, I hate Canadians so much.

Just kidding. :|> Being Canadian and all, I actually think Canada is pretty k3wl. We've got hockey, and good beer, and nice mountains, and lots of good stuff.

And yeah, the "Aboot" stereotype- That's easterners. Maritimers (east coasters) say "aboot" and "oot" a lot. Ontarians occassionally say it too. But out here in the west, it's one hundred percent "ABOUT" baby.

And while on the topic of mispronunciation, it's pronounced "ROOF", not "RUFF" goddamit! And it's "VEHICLE", not "VEE HICKLE"!!

Because I am Firefox... and I - AM - CANADIAN!!!

Okay... I'm getting off the soapbox now...

WHOOHOO! I love Canada! (being Canadian and all certainly helps)

Gotta agree with firefox, we've got great beer, great wildlife, great hockey. The big thing I really like is that we've got public health care (whoohoo! no bills to pay from doctors!), violence (ie. gunshot wounds, etc) isn't a serious problem, and when we travel to other countries, we're not afraid of sewing our country's flag on our backpacks. In fact, people are usually nicer to us knowing that we are Canadian.

We're not a social "melting-pot" - no one is expected to conform to one set culture - our "culture" is based around the strong ethnic diversity present within our society and is what makes this such a great place to be.

I am rig_hater and I AM CANADIAN!

Fuck that shit!

Get the French out! I'm equally sick of the francais on my cereal. If Quebec really wants all this French shit, let them have it, but keep it in your own province, don't make us suffer cause you're too lazy to learn a more popular language.

if theres one thing that almost everyone can agree on, its that the french suck.
Posted by rig_hater on Jun. 15 2000,01:47
what the french need to realize is that canada has two national languages - not just one - and that the other one is english. i think it's silly that it's illegal to have any english text on signs in quebec. hell, it's not just silly, it's damned annoying, especially when you're lost.

i've got lots of friends in quebec, and they're great, and most of them don't want to seperate.

the way i figure it, if we have to have french on our signs, they should have to have english on theirs. i'm all for equality. it's all or nothing baby!

Yes that is true, why should us english speaking canadians have to put up with the long backwards french language when the french don't want to put up with our english language.

Those french canadians just don't have any idea what it is they want to make them happy.

On a slightly different note: Have you guys seen the edge 102's 'I am NOT Canadian'?

I just keep thinking of the south park movie...
I got friends who have problems with Canadians and everytime I ask them what the deal is its always the same reply...
We just don't
like that makes any sense.
Anyway I like Canada...I think it's pretty cool actually...I should move there some day.

Canada kicks ass...

One beef I do have is all the french text on all our FREAKING food...I've been waking up every morning pouring au lait on my le cheerios and I'm sick of it...down with le fracais...no one in the west speaks french so keep that shit in the east...

I know why the French are so pissed off...they gave us the croissant...and we turned in into...the croisandwhich

anyway...I'm out

yeah, i've heard the "I am not Canadian" - it's hilarious! i've still got the mp3 somewhere i think. if i find it, i'll post a link to it.

as for the entire image south park created of canada and how some people are just irked by canada, i don't understand why. maybe they're jealous or are scared to know anything beyond their own country?

Lighten up, southpark has made fun of everything and everyone sometime in its history.

I love America but I have no problem with Canada (ok, maby a small problem) and i've never even been to Austalia but I've been told nice things about them, people say its sorta like a big Florida beach, but less people.

I wasn't saying that I didn't like south park- the whole idea of South Park is to play off the stupidity of society- thats what makes it so damn funny....

Last Canada day (July 1st) I celebrated by going to the South Park movie with my brother and his friend. It was hilarious. Anyone who takes that kind of thing too seriously and can't see the humour in all of it needs to lighten up.

And yeah, I'd say it almost made more fun of Americans than Canadians, really. The sad thing is that a lot of the stuff they were making fun of is so true. I mean, these days, it's nearly impossible to find anyone who is willing to accept their problems and mistakes as their own, instead of finding a scapegoat.
