While running my CPU at sub-zero temps nearly gives me wood I'm really bothered with that price.轜 ?!?! Good lord, for that price you can probably but the same speed CPU that you'll o/c to with the VapoChill. It can't possibly be nearly that expensive to make. A window A/C unit costs what? Maybe a few hundred dollars. Add a decent case, there's another hundred or so. So they're charging at least 跌 to put it together? *whew* They really need to look at that price a bit closer. do like i'm doing, my web browsing computer is actually a watercooled 386 DX, 16 megs of ram. I got it to 133 mhz...then it stated smoking... kinda...I oc'd another, without cooling it, and the entire chip/socket melted... good lord... ------------------ Posted by simulacrum on May 30 2000,22:16
The entire chip socket melted? What was it? A pentium 60? That was the only chip I ever heard of that actually got that hot.

Don't get my wrong. I'd LOVE to supercool my CPU. I just don't think that it's worth 700 bones. If they could just drop the price a few hundred dollars and get it in a snazzier looking case I'd be sold. I found out 2 yrs ago that the people who built my first computer had o/c'd my processor by about 150mhz, so when I opened up the case to see why it wasnt working properly, it came to no suprise that the processor had melted itself into the plastic on the zif socket, the heatsink had melted to the processor, and the fan had melted to the heatsink.Now THAT takes the cake, quite literally... ------------------ Posted by simulacrum on May 31 2000,22:34

God those pentium 60s RAN hot... I mean those bastards RAN HOT.... I think I still have one in the closet... sad really, right next to the 386.

Only thing I've ever fried was a motherboard that had a crack in it. Burning electronics is a smell I'll never forget. Fortunately none of my other components were damaged, and I was able to get a new and better MB for free from the company I bought the original from. I'll never buy AZZA again.------------------ |
