So what do you think about human cloning?

I haven't made up my mind on what is and isn't a good idea... but I do have 2 things to consider:

1) GWB is a RETARD for IMEADIATLY demanding that it be out-lawed! He gave NO room for research, application, or even thought! (of course he'd STILL be a retard even if he DID like it...)

2) We use horses to pull carts. This is because such a strenth at it, yet are too stupid to rebel. What if we genitically altered cloned humans to remove the selfawarness concept in their brain (basically making them a computer). That way we could train them to fill EVERY lower job (hehe... space monkeys) and the rest of us could party all day. The concept is of course that without self-awarness they wouldn't be human and can't be dehumanized (just like a horse).

As long as they make some 6' tall swedish looking blondes with big tits, that wont talk back because theirs nothing upstairs, whose sole purpose in life is to fuck, im ok with it.(I know they make those now but I dont want to go all the way to sweeden to get one.)

do you realize what that would do to the economy? imagine replacing all manual jobs with robots. what would all those people do for money? unless you plan on killing all the lower class people after you make the clones. in that case...good idea

I think more of what hes saying is you would be a pimp more or less. Getting unskilled labor jobs for your clones. Then you taking the profits and living like a king.

I can just imagine a horse stable with people in it instead.

Human cloning. Hm. Haven't made my mind up on that one yet.
But there is one thing that is definitely sure: making human clones to do the "lower caste" jobs would be a crime, towards them and towards any idea of humanity. If there is need for brainless, self-awarenessless workers, build robots. Not human machines.
Anyone here has read Huxley's "Brave New World"? They do exactly the same thing there. They clone people to do "lower jobs", and the rest of them spends the day f@@@ing. I assure you that it is not a nice society. However, the book was written in the 1930's, and a lot of the "visions" in it have already become dangerously true... I guess it'll be hard to stop the development anyways.
I think the dangers of human cloning are by far greater than its advantages. Of course it's stupid to totally forbid it by law - research has to be done and science can never be suppressed by any laws (think of Galileo). But there is a difference between research and mass production.

for some interesting thoughts on human cloning, you should watch reruns of Space: Above and Beyond. they started cloning humans to force them to fight in wars, but then they decided it was unfair, so they stopped that...but then lots of people treat the clones as inferior...

It would certainly be more cost effective to create millions of single cells (and let nature do the rest) than design and build millions of human-like robot (not to mention the reasoning, logic, and conversing AI!). And they could be designed to have EXTREAMLY low matabolisims and wouldn't need many resources. And they wouldn't need to live all that long... just through the 40s and we can make more.

And as long as they aren't self-aware I don't see how it's any worse than enslaving horses... or farming pigs (which are actually pretty smart) for that matter!

Oh and here's another idea. You're liver is going bad, so we just clone another you (with MUCH faster body development, and NO reasoning capacity)... and when it hits the equivelent of 25 years-old we take the liver and implant it in you! Your body won't reject the organ because it's your own! Hell... they could probably transpant your arm that way! (BTW, they transplanted a monkey's HEAD successfully once) Imagine just having suit case full of YOUR parts just ready to go!

Oh, and by the way... "playing god" has NOTHING to do with this, because the process isn't much different than artificial incemination... which is PERFECTLY legal.

You know, you don't need to clone an entire animal to get the parts you want... ie. a liver.

In that vein, why not have a chicken meat producing plant... that just rolls out an inch thick ream of meat.

Besides, most jobs that you would want a mindless drone for could be accomplished by robots or teenagers.

Aren't there basic cells (I can't remember the technical term) that can be grown into any organ you want? I say we should do research into that for the answer, not look at ways to make our lazy selves less responsible.

More specifically, they're non-differentiated cells. You can find them in the mammaries, oddly enough.

i really don't think making clones to do work is a realistic possibility.. mainly for this reason.

but what about engineering clones, who can compute (math) faster than any machine and that keeps up with all your appointments.

engineer them to where you cna 'plug' them into another machine.. (like a printer). and print out images that they have seen, and can remember in perfect detail.

then again.. why don't we start making normal people like that. i can forsee genetic engineering as a way to replace the everyday machines that we use.
