my brother recently jipped me in trading my sblive for his mx300. in return he gave me an extra cd-r (hehe ) but this mx300 is crap. i have windows 2000. mx300 sux in windows 2000! the drivers don't seem to work right. it doesn't seem to support my 4 speakers, the rear speakers just mirror the front (or dont work at all). half life crashes as soon as the map loads. quake 3 only has stereo sound. i can't hear any a3d or eax sound effects. anyone know how to fix all these bugs? i already downloaded the newest reference beta drivers, and installed them accoring to the instructions, but it still doesn't work. help!

It won't work. A3D went belly-up before win2k was even released, I believe.

Buy a new sblive.

roger that..

I had to move my mx-300 to my linux box when I built my new 'puter, and buy an SBlive..
The KT7-raid does not play well w/ the mx300. And of course it's completely unsupported now.

Aureal did release some crappy linux drivers before they went under, and they've been appropriated and much improved by the Linux Aureal Driver team on SourceForge. they work great. They're written so well you can use them on Win2k

I made a similiar error. I BOUGHT an MX400. I should know better. I run Win2K, and I should have remembered that Diamond is notorious for bad driver support, much less under NT (or 2K). I can make noises, and that's it. Not about to do a dual boot just for my soundcard. I think you and I are just screwed.

Go to sharkyextreme and check out the review on the new Hercules sound setup. Looks pretty sweet, and my friend just bought it. Very nice, probably good driver support, and around 贶ish. <sarcasm> Plus, I'll bet it's even mp3 accelerated!!!! </sarcasm>.

[intel humor]it accelerates the internet to give you maxium enjoyment out of life![/intel humor]

unfortunately i dont really have any money for a new soundcard, except for a dirt cheap one. im not gonna buy a sound blaster live value because i just previously had a sblive! gold, and that would still be a downgrade. the live 5.1 platnium looks sweet, even has a wireless remote, but is a bit too expensive (赨).
